This antique Mahovlich model wooden stck has been autographed by members of the 1972 Summit Series. The memorable series is a staple in Canadian culture with stories of where you were being passed down to the next generation. Autographs on this stick include Harris, Clarke, Glennie, Hadfield, Guevremont, Awrey, Johnston, Bergman, Cashman, P. Esposito, D. Hull, Stapleton, White, Cournoyer, Parise, Tallon, Dionne, Perreault, Berenson, Henderson, Mikita, Savard, Park, Dryden and a few others. 25 fantastic signatures on one piece - wow! A must have for any hockey collector coming straight from the collection of Danny Wood.

Danny Wood’s training career started off with the 1963-64 Kitchener Rangers of the OHA. For the start of the 1964-65 season, he moved to Red Wings affiliate Johnstown Jets of the Eastern Hockey League, then was quickly promoted to the Memphis Wings under the guidance of Sid Abel. In 1966-67, Baz Bastien recruited him for the AHL’s Pittsburgh Hornets, where he worked with players such as Billy Harris, Pete Mahovlich, Andy Bathgate, and Doug Harvey. The team won the Calder Cup and Pittsburgh joined the NHL the following season. In 1967-68, Doug Harvey suggested Wood to Larry Reagan and he became the Los Angeles Kings’ first trainer. Red Kelly was the coach and he roomed with Terry Sawchuk.

Wood spent 1970-72 with the Kansas City Blues, where he witnessed Michel Plasse becoming the first professional goalie in the history of the game to be credited with scoring a goal. In 1973, his friend Guy Kinnear asked if he would consider joining the Leafs new farm team in Oklahoma City, and he was a Blazer for one season. Then it was back to Kansas City, followed by a promotion to the St. Louis Blues when one of their trainers became ill. The following year (1975-76), at the request of Sid Abel and Baz Bastien, he joined the short-lived Kansas City Scouts. After the franchise folded, Wood decided he had been away from home long enough. He moved back home to Midland, Ontario to start a family and open up a small sporting goods store, which is still going strong to this day.
